In the local Koikoi language, Neuras means the “place of abandoned water”. Neuras Estate owes its early existence as a farm to the presence of several crystal clear cold-water springs, and dates back to 1894.
The Neuras Estate extends southwards from the top of the majestic Naukluft Mountains and is typical of the pro-Namib geological and natural environment. Set amongst the stunning scenery of ancient canyons and caves, fascinating geological formations and natural fountains, Neuras is truly a unique research site and is home to one of N/a’an ku sê’s carnivore research programmes – in addition to being one of only three wineries in Namibia.
Neuras welcomes volunteers as well as day visitors and overnight guests, and offers activities such as wine tasting, hiking and wildlife tracking.
